There is a lot to unpack in this exciting announcement, so keep reading if you want to learn more!

What Does the New .Wallet Standard Mean for Me?

The newly formed .Wallet Alliance will consolidate the industry’s efforts, but for you, it means ease of mind which is built directly into the system of .wallet domains. The Alliance has cut down on your efforts and the efforts of new users to enter into cryptos and use new and diverse coins giving you access to over 275 cryptocurrencies.

This new standard allows new users and less technical users to start participating in crypto, opening the market for an entirely new class of people looking to get into cryptocurrencies but thwarted by the complexities usually associated with transacting in crypto.

What is the Global .Wallet Address?

.Wallet is an extension that anyone can purchase that offers users the ability to send cryptocurrencies to friends, family, and peers who are not as well versed in crypto wallets and crypto addresses. By simplifying this process, anyone can now send crypto anytime using the simple name of someone you want to make a gift or payment to, like let’s say we have a friend named Joe. Now we can easily send Joe money at joeswallet.wallet or Kathy at
kathy.wallet, for example!

You will be able to use your .wallet address for any cryptocurrency. The .Wallet address has an impressive feature set that allows you to send and seamlessly integrates Unstoppable Domains’ and IPFS’s hosting experience.

How Does This Affect Exchanges and Wallets?

This .Wallet standard is excellent for users at all levels of cryptocurrency involvement and will make it easier for everyone across the board.

Cryptocurrency wallets have been an essential part of the crypto space for a long time now. With so many projects built on this powerful technology, there has been no way to share one’s crypto easily with friends, family, and peers who are not as well versed in this new hardware wallet system. The .wallet extension aims to solve that.

Standard Link (Using this link won’t help the site) https://unstoppabledomains.com

  1. Click the link above to be taken to Unstoppable Domains
  2. Once on the page, you will be greeted with a search bar this will let you search for your .wallet address
  3. Type in the username you would like to own (ownership is forever but tied to your claiming wallet)
  1. The green checkmark means that the domain extension is available for the searched name. Clicking on the .wallet or other extensions will let you add them to your cart (special note if you get a spinning wheel and no button like below, refresh the page should fix the issue):
  1. Once you have the domain in your cart, you will want to click on the CHECKOUT button.
  2. From there, you will be prompted to sign in or create an account. Please select the appropriate option and proceed.
  3. On the page, after you have signed in, you will be able to pick your payment method.
  1. Pay for your domain or domains, and then you will see them in your Unstoppable Domains dashboard shortly after. My first time took about 1 hr, but subsequent purchases took 20-40 minutes.
  2. Claim your domain to your wallet: I have another tutorial and video I will post about this process, but it is pretty straightforward.

Special notes on claiming domains:

  • It is normal for the process to take a little time; this doesn’t mean there was a failure or other issue
  • Fees for claiming can be high, but if you watch gas prices, you can find cheaper times to complete the action
    • Layer 2 solution for Unstoapple Domains is coming soon!
  • Purchasing your domain with your wallet does not automatically claim your domain to that wallet
  • You will have additional steps to set up addresses or websites (Learn more here: Coming Soon)
